Feeling at home in The Netherlands? Baffled about the bureaucracy? Surprised by the quirky behaviour of the Dutch? Don't worry, you're not the only one!
West International is a program where you can share your experiences and laugh with and learn from other expats from The Hague and surroundings. In the TV West International show we will cover lifestye, culture, sports and give you practical advice about city life in The Netherlands. Every week we will visit a person or family who is about to leave The Netherlands and wants to share his or her advice for survival, fun and success in the region. They will talk about what they will take with them and what they will leave behind. Another weekly item is joining another expat for dinner for a dish from their country of origin.
The program aims at expats and international oriented people who are living and working in The Hague and surrounding areas.
TV West is the first broadcaster with a special television show for the international community in The Netherlands.

Experienced expats Paul Brown, Cecilia Aquino and Nicola Courtney teamed up to host this program. Paul Brown was born and raised in London and has been active in the financial services industry for over 20 years. He came to The Netherlands in the early 1990's. Cecilia Aquino is a twenty-seven year old Filipino-American who moved to the Netherlands in July 2008. Nicola Courtney’s passport might say she's British, but she is what you would call a serial expat. She has experienced the highs and lows of moving to a new country.
The program is produced by Starsound Productions.

This week is the last episode of West International for this season (before the season repeat starting next week). Nicola attends a traditional South African barbecue, called a 'braai', this week. John Fullard gives her a real taste from the country in celebration of the recent rugby tournament. John has been living in the Netherlands for quite some time and explains to us what it was like for him to integrate into Dutch society. In the Service item, we learn about the organisation ACCESS. Carol Wooley, director of ACCESS, tells us about what they do to help expats and the international community. Ingwe Mayntz is surprised this week by her colleagues from The Undutchables. They miss her very much, so they collaborate with Cecilia to give her a nice surprise. Paul has the honour of a quick interview with the mayor of The Hague himself, Jozias van Aartsen. They talk about the city of The Hague and what it means to him to have lived and worked in the city all his life. Also, don't miss the bloopers in between the items! Our three presenters show us that things don't always go according to plan...
In the At Home item this week, Nicola visits the Polish expat Agnieszka. Together, they make a traditional dish of cabbage soup, called 'golabki'. Of course, they also talk about Agnieszka's experiences here, having lived in the Netherlands for quite some time now. Nicola also appears in our Surprise item; she wants to surprise her friend Jacinta who has missed the Netherlands after being away for a while. Nicola gives Jacinta what she calls “the full Dutch experience in one place”. Rules and regulations are the topic of the Service item this week. We learn about many different procedures that people living in The Hague and indeed the Netherlands have to follow. Paul gets more than he bargained for in the Interview this time. He goes to see Robert Bouten, Olympic canoeist, at a wild water course in Zoetermeer. Unfortunately for Paul, he must descend the twisting rapids; he does have Robert as a teacher and guide, so everything should go well.
